Tim Parker

District 2 Board Member
(208) 743-3166

As a fouth generation Idaho union leader, Tim was appointed to fill the vacancy left in District 2 when Sister Jody Johnston Retired in 2019.  Tim is following in the footsteps of his maternal great-grandfather, FW Hughes, whose name appears in the records of the 1916 Idaho Federation of Labor convention as Idaho’s District 2 Vice-President.  Hughes served as a business agent and organizer for the Cooks and Waiters Union and, according to family legend, was murdered in Oregon while organizing.

Tim’s maternal grandfather was a theater projectionist and long time Secretary Treasure of IATSE Local 663 in Lewiston.  Tim’s father was a Job Steward for the Firefighter bargaining group at Potlatch Corporation in Lewiston, representing UPIU 712 and PACE 712.

Tim’s first union position was Job Steward for the USW 712 Firefighter bargaining group, while at Potlatch Corporation in Lewiston Idaho.  The Fire Department was contracted out in 2008 and Tim refused to work for the contractor who was, at the time, a scab organization. Tim went to work for the City of Lewiston part-time while completing his Paramedic education eventually being hired on full-time in 2010 and immediately joining IAFF Local 1773.

Tim went to work in different capacities for his local including Local 1773 PAC treasurer and eventually his Local’s Vice President, in which he continues to serve.  In 2018 Tim was chosen as one of 10 IAFF members from Idaho, Washington, Montana, and Alaska to take part in the IAFF 7th District Executive Leadership Series (ELS), a year-long intensive union leadership school.  Tim graduated from ELS as valedictorian. Tim currently serves as a field service representative for the IAFF.

Tim resides in Lewiston with his wife Allison an IEA member, and Son Dylan.  Tim’s oldest son, Ryan, attends Montana State University- Bozeman where he is a sophomore.
