Born in Coeur d Alene, Idaho in 1952. Attended Catholic grade school at St. Thomas and then was the last graduating class of Immaculate Heart of Mary High School. After graduation, I attended 1 year at North Idaho College, with the thought of becoming a teacher.

In 1972 on May 31, I went to work for Kaiser Aluminum (Trentwood Works) and on that day I became a proud member of the United Steelworkers local 338. On June 13, 1972 I was married to the love of my life, Lugene.  A couple of years later I was asked to be a shift griever and then a shift safety rep; shortly after that I became a Departmental Wage and Inequity rep.  I would eventually become the Departmental Grievance person from 1991 - 1994 and then again from 1997 to 2009. In 2009 I was elected to my E board as Vice President until 2015, when I lost the position, but again became the Departmental Griever. I was also appointed Chair of the Committee for Wage and Inequity in 2009.

I was appointed the rep from my local Union in 2010 to the North Idaho Labor Council and soon after won the election to the e-board of the central labor council as Vice president in 2010.

My wife and I have been Superintendents of the North Idaho Fair for the last 40 years. We also were 4-H leaders for a time; one year we were honored to be selected by the 4-H community as Leaders of the Year.

I have been a coach in the flag football league in the park and recreation of Coeur d Alene and was one of the first assistant coaches for the Jr. Tackle league in Coeur d’ Alene. I also, coached my daughter’s softball team in the Kootenai Girls Softball League from the time she was in 2nd grade until the 8th grade. I was also the treasurer of the League for 2 years. I then had the privilege of coaching with my daughter in a Park and Rec league after she graduated from High School. Also, I helped Lakeland High School start a softball program.

My Son is going back to school to get his masters degree in education, so he can start teaching in Washington, and will soon become a union member. My Daughter works for Central Valley school District and is a union member there now.

My wife and I have 2 children and 2 granddaughters.
