Shane is a proud 21-year member of IUOE Local 302, starting as a heavy equipment operator apprentice in Alaska in 2002. His career included working Arctic winters on the North Slope and road projects during the summer. In 2006, he took on my first Union leadership role as a Shop Steward, became a Field Rep in 2008, and served as a Training Trustee and Executive Board Member by 2015. Shane became the President of the Anchorage Building Trades Council in 2018 where he negotiated collective bargaining agreements and engaged in political campaigns. In January 2023, he relocated to Boise as a Field Rep, aiming to expand Union labor and promote the Labor Movement in Idaho.

Shane’s father struggled as a nonunion worker, passing away at 71 while still working. The only thing that helped to sustain him was his pension from ten years as a Teamster. His father’s experience has inspired him to dedicate his career to the Union, improving wages, benefits, and retirement security for working families.

Shane’s extensive experience in Alaska brings valuable perspectives and adaptability to the Idaho State AFL-CIO Executive Board where he works to enhance conditions for Idaho’s workers.
