Paul Garner

Paul began working in a Union Sheet Metal shop in May 1998, initially driven by the need to provide for my family. Over time, he recognized the value in the career, and the support from his coworkers led him to a Union apprenticeship, which he completed in May 2007. After a brief hiatus during the recession, Paul joined another major Union sheet metal contractor in Boise, gaining skills, perspectives, and meeting new brothers and sisters.
During his apprenticeship, Paul became active in Union meetings and was later encouraged to take on leadership roles, including Union Trustee, Executive Board member, and Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) member. He also served as a SMART 55 delegate to the Boise Central Trades & Labor Council and became their Vice President, advocating for labor rights and worker benefits. Paul is proud of his work with the Idaho State AFL-CIO, supporting workers and serving the community.
